Before I started working with Patty, my understanding of what a Realtor does was pretty simple: they help clients buy or sell a house, then get a commission. That’s it. Honestly, that's what the vast majority of people think.
But when I became her assistant, I quickly realized how much more there is to this profession. Being a Realtor isn’t just a 9-to-5 job. It’s not limited to “show a house, close a deal.” With Patty, I’ve seen the deeper side of this career, the side most people don’t get to see.
Her days are filled with things you might not expect:
- Preparing listing agreement and meeting with potential clients.
- Scheduling staging sessions, photos, and videos to make each property shine.
- Creating brochures and mailing lists for marketing materials to give every listing the best chance to stand out.
- Coordinating open houses, following up with buyers, and keeping track of countless moving parts.
- Negotiating offers with all parties.
- Preparing an appraisal package and meeting the appraiser.
- And of course, the mountain of paperwork and contracts that has to be done perfectly.
What I admire most are the little things she does that often go unnoticed but make such a big difference. Going above and beyond, because she wants her properties to look their absolute best. Those small acts say so much about her dedication.
Patty goes beyond what’s expected, not because she has to, but because she truly loves her work and cares about her clients. Seeing that passion up close has completely changed how I view this profession.
So now, when people say, “Realtors just sell houses,” I can’t help but laugh a little. Because if they saw Patty’s life the way I do, they’d know it’s so much more than that. It’s hard work, flexibility, dedication, and a lot of heart.
